Good Monday Morning!

Hello everyone! I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. I have a really annoying head and chest cold so that has been a bummer, but other than that I had a very nice weekend. We started getting our lights up on the house. I usually put all white lights up but decided to try something different this year so we put white around the deck and some blue lights over the garage. I haven't actually had them on yet because I don't have the timers set up but I am not sure I am going to like the non-matching look!!! It might mess with my Christmas light feng shui too much!!

Well, Kristie and I finished 2 more races in Vegas last weekend (40 and 41). I haven't written about them yet because I was feeling so crummy all week. I had to default to my mile each day for my challenge this week because I couldn't breathe and just felt overall poopy!!

We did the 5k Saturday night and the half on Sunday night. We just jogged along for the 5k and then for the half we just walked, jogged and talked. I was so fatigued I just didn't have it in me. Luckily Kristie was a bit tired too so she just stayed with me. It was actually quite enjoyable just not caring and walking whenever and chatting along the way. For some reason I could not sleep much in Vegas (no I was not out partying) and I think that plus 41 races since March finally caught up to me.

Before the half marathon you had to get into your corral really early because they closed them. We were in ours for an hour just standing around before they let us start. Honestly, that was not a good way for a race to start. When it was finally time to get to the start line we still had to walk like a mile to get to it!!! After the race it felt like another mile to get out of the secure area for the finish. Holy cow!! I was so tired and I had to walk almost 2 casinos down from my hotel to get out of the finish chute. By the time I got back to my room I was too tired to even eat. I had some left over pizza in my room and I took one bite and decided I was just too tired to even chew!! Now, you know I was tired if I wouldn't eat my pizza since you all know that I love food! I had to be up at 3:15 for the airport anyway so it was good I was too tired to eat.

I have decided that I probably won't run the Vegas races again. Night races are hard to plan for and kind of mess up your day. I have done it 3 times now and I would say that is enough.

I met some really nice people this weekend so that part of the trip was great. First, I got to see a previous client of mine that moved back to Las Vegas. We went to lunch Friday after I went to the expo. It was great seeing her and she looked happier and better than I have seen her in a long time. I think Las Vegas suits her. We went to Eataly and it was so yummy! Here are a few pictures:

I also met 2 new friends this weekend, Marcus and Sebastien. If you follow me on Instagram then you have already seen the pictures with them. They are two amazing people and are ambassadors for Rock N Roll and Ironman. I had a great time talking with them and getting to know them some. I even got to go the VIP party with Sebastien because he had an extra ticket so that was nice. I hope to see them again at races in the future. They will both be doing Ironman in Kona next year. Hmmm, maybe I need to take that trip to Hawaii that I have always been wanting to!!

It seemed like I encountered many friendly people while I was in Las Vegas. One place that there were some not so friendly people was at the 5k. During the 5k race Kristie and I heard several runners saying and yelling rude things to other runners. It was the first race (and I have done a lot) where I saw so much of this. It was very disheartening. I am not sure what was going on but it was not nice.

Both races were so incredibly crowded in our waves that you could not move at all. For the 5k we couldn't get anywhere for at least the first mile. For the half it didn't really matter since we were walking and talking but it was crowded (really crowded) the whole way.

Well, here are some pictures from the races of all of us. Btw, you can follow Marcus's journey to Kona on his Instagram at bigtolittle. He has had an amazing journey.

Here are a few I took while I was walking around with Vaneza after our lunch because as you know, I love Christmas trees! They were just getting started with the decorating.

Well, that's it for today! Have a great Monday and I guess we will get ready for the storm coming!!

Happy running!

Kristi
