Happy Monday!

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend. We did! We celebrated our 18th anniversary. We started out with a bike ride and a walk because we had to get our 18 miles in. We rode to a golf course near us to have breakfast at their restaurant and we ended up getting it for free! They said they were doing a "slow open" so breakfast was free today. I do not know what they meant by a slow open but we were really happy to get a free breakfast. The restaurant was in Frederick where we live and it reminded us what a nice, little town we live in. Everyone was so friendly and talking back and forth with us from their tables.

We spent the rest of the day just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful day. Sunday was a great day too but we had to get back to reality and get some work done around here.

For those of you who follow me on Instagram you already know that I went to New York with my niece the weekend before this past one. We had such an amazing time. We spent our entire time walking from place to place to try whatever awesome food that place makes. We tried things like cereal milk ice cream (yes it tastes just like cereal milk), pizza burger, pizza cupcakes, a ramen burger, stretchy ice cream and pasta served to us from a giant cheese wheel.

We also did a night cruise to the Statue of Liberty on a sailboat. We somehow got on the wrong cruise (not the one I thought I booked) and ended up on a jazz cruise. Neither of us like jazz!! We were not too happy about the jazz, but the Statue of Liberty looked really cool at night and there was a fireworks show on our way back so that made up for the jazz.

We also walked across the Brooklyn Bridge which is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I know it is just a bridge but it did not disappoint. It is an amazing bridge and I would love to go back when it isn't so crowded. I would also love to go back with my niece at Christmastime. I love New York all the time but it is really special when it is decorated for Christmas. Also, it would be great to do another trip with my niece. She is an amazing girl! I had so much fun with her and she inspired and motivated me.

I will put a few pictures below from our trip. I need to wrap things up for today but before I go just a short word on our races. July started with the 3 Degrees of Hell which you already heard about and ended with the Happy Birthday Harry 5k on July 31st for Harry Potter's birthday. We only have one race in August so we get a break before heading into our back to back races every month until next February. I have missed several long runs lately so I really need to get back on schedule.

Some photos from NYC:

Have a great week!

Happy Running!

Kristi
